new blog

Wow, its been a while. I have not been a regular blogger now for two years, and as I start another new year, I feel like some better life documentation needs to happen. So, in an effort to post whats going on in mine and Jordan's lives, ive created a new blog . I feel like a new blogger all over again, so it might take me a while to get use to the posting, and as most resolutions, i'll probably stop posting in about a month, and then get back to it, but i'm going to try and not let that happen. ok...i'll post the link to the new blog next...stay tuned!

wow, its almost thanksgiving

So, its been way too long since my last post, and lots has happened. I guess i'll keep the name of the blog as it is for now even though i'm not in Dublin anymore. I'll be back there in Feb for Trinity's graduation, so maybe i'll change it after that. Anyways, there are 4 months till the wedding, which is crazy cause till now i didn't really feel like it was even real. that sounds rediculous, but 10 months is a long time to wait for one day. needless to say, we are starting to really get into the planning portion and that can be a bit tedious.

on another note: i finally finished my thesis, and i should hear back the results really soon. I also finally got a job, after an exhausting 6 month search. i'm going to be a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial. Many who know me might be caught off guard by this career choice seeing that i'm pretty much a history nerd/feminist. But, i like that its a new and different field, and ive already learned so much about finance, so i cant wait to see where this goes.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and i cant help but remember last years multicultural event at the flat. introducing my irish friends to friend okra and other types of southern cuisine was so much fun. My family will again be cooking up a storm for the next day to get ready for a very large feast. the weekend will be topped off with jordan and i taking our engagement pictures on sunday down in 5 points, which should be really neat. Then dinner to celebrate my birthday, the big 24.

as the months go on before my return to dublin and the wedding, i'll try to be more diligent in my posts. till then.

Dissertation Blues

Ok, so T-minus one week until the big bad dissertation is due. I'm a bit stressed, but mostly cant wait till its over. I cant wait to actually enjoy planning my wedding, and who knows, maybe even find employement...But, i'm actually taking a small break this weekend to enjoy the first Bama football game of the season. I haven't been to a game in tuscaloosa since my freshman year, so i'm long overdue for some bama football. BUT FOR NOW...back to writing, proofing, and more writing. I will soon be a new person.

Late Summer

Gillian told me she still reads my chain, so dear gill, I will try and make updates more frequently...These pics are from back in July during Leslie's wedding. She had a fantastic reception at Vulcan, which was delightful despite the heat. Lately, i haven't been doing anything incredibly exciting. I'm on the last chapter of my thesis, which is due in less than three weeks now! The countdown begins. I really will be a much happier person when this thing is mailed to dublin. I'm trying to plan a beach trip for late september with my sisters and counsin, so i'm really looking forward to laying out and doing nothing! On the job front, i'm still searching, but not too stressed cause i need to use all my time at the momment writing. Because of that, i've put a hold on wedding planning cause it was not as fun to plan when i knew i should be writing...so i'll get back to that in a few weeks. Hopefully by that point i'll have some more fun pictures to share...once i get my life back that is...

Back in Bham

The gals before a Deputy Five Night...and what a night, Happy birthday olivia!

Jordan's graduation day and my new red hair

the beautiful ring
Its been a while since i posted and ALOT has happened since then. First Jordan graduated from BSC, then proposed to me a few days later. Needless to say I was quite shocked! So, the wedding is planned for March 17th, 2007, which is fitting seeing where ive been the past 8 months. I've been spending time with friends and basically picking up where i left off last september. I'm still job hunting and probobly will be for a while during thesis writing months. Andrew just left a few days ago, but was here for like 2 1/2 weeks. We showed him all over bham and tried to give him a good taste of southern cuisine. I think we were successful. He dared the adventure that is camp sumatanga with me and had a blast! I'll post some camp pictures soon. We also went and saw the braves kill the cardinals 14-4 at Turner field. I've only been back here like a month and a half but it feels like a year. I dont know if anyone even reads this anymore, but i'll keep posting just because.

Goodbye Dublin, Ireland

Me, John Martin, and Riona selling teddy bears and displaying the diamond necklace auctioned off for charity.

This is my last day here in Dublin, I cant believe my time here is nearly exhausted. I chose to show this random picture of the Dublin Central President's Ball because I just realized I never talked about it, and it was a cool night. Anyway, today has been kinda chilled. I finished my research at Trinity, just in time too. If i had waited until today instead of yesterday to go to the manuscripts department, i would have been very disapointed casue they shut down that side of the library so the Australian Prime Minster could visit the Book of Kells and the long room. But, i was on the other side, in early printed books, so i was ok. Then isobel, dee, and I ate lunch in the Powerscourt center, then back to the library to finish up, then isobel and I met andrew at Eddy Rockets for my goodbye dinner. Not the healthiest choice, but that's where Andrew and I went the first night i moved in, so it has nostalgic value. Then we went to the Bull & Castle, our 'local' and had a great pint of guiness before heading back to the flat where we are enjoying a great lineup of television. I'm all packed up and heading to the airport tomorrow morning around 7:30. I hope the day is well for traveling cause its been rainy and cold here for around a week. Bon Voyage Dublin!
